Markita's Musings.......

Musings with my Jesus glasses on!!

Day 21

If you give a mouse a cookie 🍪....
or a moose a muffin.

If You Give a Mouse Cookie is a children's story about a series of events that might occur once a mouse is given a cookie, which leads back to its point of origin.
Do you remember the Greek dad who found the Greek root in every word?  He also used Windex as a cure all.  As I am expressing my gratitude daily on this blog, I am like that mouse or Greek dad, for me everything goes back to God and He is the solution to every problem.
The Bible says we were created for His good pleasure, He is the center of the universe, we're players in His great love story.  I recently read that when we say, "I am happy. I am sad. I am (name). I am going." , when we speak of ourselves we speak of Him.  His name is I AM, your "I am" cannot exist without His I AM.   We are all connected to Him in some way, obviously some more than others, even those that say I am an atheist.   In John 15:5 Jesus says apart from me you can do nothing.  He is not a distant God, He is woven into His very own creation.  We have His breath, when we love it's with His love (We love, because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19) This love is almost as if its a gift given to us that we can chose to distribute or dismiss.  He gives us faith to believe.  He is the source of all things.

I am grateful for The Great I AM.

“And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ””Exodus 3:14 NKJV

“for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
Philippians 2:13 NKJV

“For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.”
Romans 12:3 NKJV

Day 19 and 20

Life

I am grateful for my life, I accidentally got an electric shock. I'll spare you the details.  I'm fine. In my Mr. Brown voice "I am yet alive!"

Love

On our six hour road trip to Oman 🇴🇲, my hubby, Mr T. dusted off some "quiet storm" CDs, which I now refer to as Oman (love) music.  After a few songs, I lean over and say, "Awe, you've been waiting on me a long time, huh?"  Knowing I was teasing him, he's gives that you're a jerk look 👀 😂!  I have to give him credit when I fell sick back in January he nursed me back to health, cleaning my wound, cooking homemade meals from scratch daily(black eyes peas were on point!), driving me to doctor daily.  The look he gave me in the recovery room after surgery, reminded how my granddad would look at my granny when he was worried about her.  I'm grateful for true love!  You're so Good to Me

““I am my beloved’s, And his desire is for me.”
‭‭SONG OF SOLOMON‬ ‭7:10‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Day 18

God is still on the throne.

In a matter of seconds I received this text message from 2 friends, on opposite sides of the world, concerning a situation in my life.  "God is still on the throne."  Out the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses let every word be established.  This word was established into life.

I am grateful that God still sits on His Throne! He's still in control. All things are under His watch. Even when things occur that I do not understand, even when the world seems off it's rocker, even with the deluge of insanity that's revealed daily through various forms of media, even when my life seems to be doing its own thing, GOD REIGNS OVER THE NATIONS, GOD SITS ON HIS HOLY THRONE!

Let the church say, "Amen!"

“God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne.”
PSALM 47:8 AMP

Day 16 and Day 17

Grateful for the little things or things that seem insignificant because we take them for granted.  Things that makes one's day go a little smoother.

Grateful for the hand of God on my life. His people are as  one preacher always says, "like ducks to water."  Just like ducks will find water, even in an unfamiliar place, so will His people find Him.  I promise you I walked into a church over here and I couldn't tell you what language the worship was in, besides making an ignorant guess.  The room was packed from wall to wall literally, no room to stand, hardly any to sit, but God was there, His presence was so strong I was in awe.  I had to my change paradigm on somethings.

“We set out from the river Ahava on the twelfth [day] of the first month to go to Jerusalem; and the hand of our God was upon us, and He rescued us from the hand of the enemy and those who lay in ambushes along the way.”

EZRA 8:31

Day 14 and Day 15
Mi Familia

I am grateful for my family.  Husband, mom, dads, grannies, aunts, uncles, literally hundreds of cousins,on both sides of the families, in-laws.  Those that have gone on before us. All the friends of the family that's like family. They're spread out all over the country. I even have one near me, here in the Middle East.  Are they perfect, no far from it, but who is?

Homeward Bound

Grateful to be going home. Thank you Jesus! God has given me the experience of being a foreigner in a foreign land.  I like when he expands my heart ❤️.

“God sets the lonely in families...
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭68:6‬a

Day 13
Barbie's Whip (car)

When I was little I wanted a Barbie car so bad. One of my little kid desires that went unfulfilled, because probably it was deemed too costly, buying the car just could not be justified.  So I had to settle for old shoe boxes to get Barbie and Ken (sometimes Michael Jackson) from point a to point b.  Their crib was a fortress of the large pillows from a big brown couch we used to have.  I still can't believe I never got that car, the injustice! I even found one somewhere and brought it home and played with it for a while.  Although I got the Easy Bake Oven I asked for, it probably cost the same amount as the car. I know my Cabbage Patch Kids cost more and I had 3 of them, we even paid postage to get their official birth certificates. (Hear Don King say "Only in America!") Nevertheless, I forgive all who played a roll in this great injustice in my childhood! 😜😜😂😂😂😭😭

I said all of that to say this, sometimes we don't realize how good we have it, because we're focused on what we don't have. Especially us Americans (those of the Western World), our poorest citizens would be considered upper middle class in most nations. Most people of the world live on less than a dollar a day, charging all our devices would consume that amount. Please do not limit this to material wealth, that would truly be an injustice. We are rich in many things, health, love, etc. One of my favorite blessings is a good conversation with a loved one.

I am grateful for all my possessions (not just material) and I don't apologize for any of them because God gave them to me.

“The blessing of the LORD brings [true] riches, And He adds no sorrow to it [for it comes as a blessing from God].”
PROVERBS 10:22 AMP

Day 11 and Day 12

I am grateful that God has an open door policy.  Anytime I need Him, he's available.

       •  “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I am grateful for the prayers of the saints.  They carry a lot weight with God.
  • “.... The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. James‬ ‭5:16‬b AMPC‬‬.   Come into my Courts

 Hope

Day 10

As long as there is breath in our lungs there is hope, there is no need to give up in defeat. I'm grateful for hope.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
I Corinthians 13:13 NKJV

Progress

Day 9

Today I am grateful for progress.  Things are not going according to my plans, but I believe there is a greater purpose than what I see.   A lesson to be learned.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

       His Presence

Day 8
I am grateful for the presence of God.  His life transforming presence, where in an instant you feel you've been caught up to heaven.  His presence where you feel His embrace.  His presence where He comforts you in difficult times or when he's answered your prayers.  I just love being around Him.

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?”
Psalms 139:7 NKJV

Day 7
Friendship

Let's just say friendship is awesome! I grateful for having true friends.
“A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭18:24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Day 6
God's Family 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

(I'm just kind of randomly listing what comes to my heart, it's not in any type of order.)

I am grateful for the family of God.  I will definitely keep this brief because there are just too many people to appreciate that have impacted my life spiritually. This includes leaders, pew mates, close friends, brothers and sisters.  There are 4 ladies in this particular season of my life, that I don't know if I'd be standing on my two feet if not for their prayers and ministry in my life.

Honestly I been very blessed in the family department natural, spiritual and work families.  Know that I love you and I'm grateful for you all.

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brothers to dwell together in unity!”
‭‭PSALM‬ ‭133:1‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Jackfruit 🍈

Day 5

Keeping it lighthearted today.

I am grateful for honey jackfruit from Malaysia.  So glad I decided to try it. It was so fresh and tree ripen sweet. It's hard to believe I bought it from the grocery store.

No this one is not spiritual, except God created the jackfruit and gave me the tastebuds to enjoy it!😋😋😋 He's also given me the mind to be grateful, even for the little things!

“So God said, “Let the earth sprout [tender] vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit according to (limited to, consistent with) their kind, whose seed is in them upon the earth”; and it was so.”
‭‭GENESIS‬ ‭1:11‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Living by Faith

Day 4

I am grateful for my faith in God.

Anyone whose has ever taught in my hometown is probably familiar with a team of people who visit schools during August, dressed like undertakers. They're actually insurance salesman.  They are polished and ready to sale you their bill of goods, maybe even some oceanfront property in Arizona. Every new school year we were forced to sit through their presentation and one guy would even incorporate his faith into his presentation, quoting scriptures and everything.
One year I got it into my head that I wanted to slay this dragon of fear mongering.  I didn't care to hear the presentation. I did not want to be corralled into the boardroom for a personal presentation. I had better things to do like set up my classroom. So I prayed that God would give me a scripture as shield of defense.  It just so happened when I was called to the boardroom I got the preacher salesman. He goes into his testimony then offered the goods to which I replied "no thanks." Of course he couldn't let me off the hook that easily since I had purchased something in the past.   I replied, (*Drumroll Please*) "The just shall live by faith". The man's chin hit the table, left speechless for about 3 seconds, stuttered a little, picked up and kept going.  The lady sitting next to him burst into laughter, shrugged her shoulders and said "Well", implying " she got you on that one".  He made yet another offer and this time I said a little more confidently, "No thank you, The just shall live by faith." He finally gave up and let me go.

This run-in was not just a momentary experience, it set me up to live it out.  I opened my big mouth to declare my faith publicly, and it turned me towards God.  I had to lean on Him.  It's so easy to believe we have everything under control, when in reality control as we know it is mass delusion, let one thing happen and in minutes you could lose everything.   With my faith in God, even if I lose everything this life has to offer, I lose nothing because I have Him, for this I am most grateful! ❤️

““Look at the proud one, His soul is not right within him, But the righteous will live by his faith [in the true God].”
HABAKKUK 2:4 AMP

The Breath of Life 🌷

Day 3

I am grateful for the breath of life. There are so many things I take for granted, probably overshadowed by my many complaints of this is that or that is this and should be that.   My ability to speak these complaints are accomplished by the very breath of life that is within my lungs, which sustains me.  How foolish of me!?!? Why is it foolish? Its sets one up in a place of hopelessness and defeat.
The breath of life is a gift from God, and should be treated as such.

“Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath or spirit of life, and man became a living being. ”
Genesis 2:7 AMPC

“For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].”

Philippians 4:8 AMPC

Bumping into God

Day 2

Expressing true gratitude is not as easy as I thought. Today I am struggling, but it's not because I can't think of something.  I have a list of 32 things that I am just not connecting to at the moment.

(***Reflecting***)

I am thankful that God has met me in this foreign land. I tease that I am like Moses who had the burning bush experience in the desert.  Moses was moseying around and bumped into God.  He was fascinated with the bush that was burning but not consumed.  God was inviting him into his destiny.  40 years in the palace as a prince in Egypt.  40 years in the desert being humbled.

I came here one way but I am truly leaving another. How have I been humbled? I've learned man does not live by bread (natural resources), but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God! I need Him first, foremost, primarily, solely, etc. and for this I am truly grateful!

“When the LORD saw that he turned away [from the flock] to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.””
EXODUS 3:4 AMP

Coffee ☕️ with Jesus....

I have come to the conclusion that I complain entirely too much.  I have prescribed for myself a remedy of expressing gratitude.

Day 1

I am grateful for coffee with Jesus, it's the best time of the day.
I sit down with my little stuff and Bible, and just spend time with Him. It may consist of crying, praying, reading, or simply talking and listening.  There is really no formula, except to tune out everyone and everything.

“What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that You care for him?”

Psalm 8:4 AMPC
